Job description

Drake's, founded in 1977 in London's East End, is a menswear brand that embodies style, taste, and quality. With a focus on Britain's tailoring tradition, Drake's creates timeless menswear using original make processes and high-quality materials. This is a full-time on-site role for a Print/Accessories Designer located in Savile Row, London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of all seasonal accessories in line with brand identity and company strategy
  • Lead and present visual research, drawing on seasonal direction and archives
  • Continually look for new bases / finishes / innovations to bring newness to the range
  • Work closely with Merch to define collection / product breakdown / any opportunities for new product
  • Feed into / facilitate third party accessory selection
  • Print creation and development;
  • Design / develop unique, in-house prints, working in the brand's established handwriting
  • Re-draw /manipulate / colour archival prints to create seasonal options
  • Create and manage tech packs for all products, ensuring that information is passed to suppliers in a clear and commercial way
  • Liaise with factories and Product Development to request samples, strike offs, colour-ups etc.
  • Work with PD to ensure approvals / amendments are shared with factoriesin a clear and timely manner
  • Liase with print mills & suppliers on a daily basis to answer queries, chase in strike offs, send colour comments and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ad-Hoc Tasks: Perform various tasks as required by the team to ensure seamless

Requirements:

  • Experience in designing and developing a range of products
  • Previous experience as a print designer strongly preferred
  • Strong commercial understanding and appreciation of traditional print, knit and weave techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator; able to re-draw archival print designs, produce colourways, put prints into repeat etc.
  • Understanding of scale and colour
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the brand, and an ability to design / colour in the handwriting of
  • Competitor / market knowledge
  • Able to work without supervision, prioritising and managing own workload
  • Strong attention to detail
