Job summary

Highways Client is seeking an experienced Principal Structures Engineer in the Manchester area (Manchester/Preston/Warrington) to lead bridge and structural asset programmes across a regional network. The role involves developing asset management plans, overseeing surveys, and ensuring delivery of renewal and maintenance schemes.

The successful candidate will have a civil/structural engineering degree, Chartered/ Incorporated status or progress toward it, and strong experience in highways

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation.
• Strong experience within highways structures, bridges, or related infrastructure assets.
• Knowledge of structural inspections, assessments, asset management, and maintenance planning.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Understanding of relevant industry standards, asset management principles, and engineering best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed technical decisions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Contribute to the development of best practice standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
