Position Overview:

We are looking for a Principal Software Tester to lead the software testing activities for the M-ARS (Maintenance - Automatic Route Setting) system in the UK and Ireland. This pivotal role involves ensuring the quality and performance of the M-ARS Automatic Route Setting system through comprehensive testing strategies, specifications, and execution processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the software testing activities related to the M-ARS Automatic Route Setting system.
• Develop test strategies and specifications to guide all testing activities.
• Create, execute, and manage test scripts and scenarios to validate system performance.
• Produce detailed test reports outlining findings and recommendations.
• Ensure the delivery of standardized objectives and optimal system solutions on allocated projects.
• Focus on the reliability, maintainability, and safety principles of the M-ARS product.
• Ensure conformity of the M-ARS product to systems standards, agreed architecture, client standards, and company procedures.
• Support safety assurance on allocated projects/products, including developing Generic and Specific Application Safety Cases.
• Collaborate with the Systems Engineering Manager to establish best practices in testing.
• Role will be based in Hatfield 5 days
• High level of computer and software literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows System and Domain Administration.
• Experience in software testing, including unit, component, and integration testing methodologies.
• Strong ability to liaise with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and project delivery teams.
• Excellent organizational skills and decision-making abilities.
• Proficient in technical report writing.

Qualifications:

• MSc or BSc in an engineering-related subject, preferably in software engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

• Good knowledge of client and systems standards and relevant legislation.
• Familiarity with the UK railway safety approval processes, including EN50128.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles with the ability to develop relevant systems and software tools.
• Commercial and financial awareness.
• Knowledge of Virtualization and Cloud Technologies.
• Additional Qualifications:
• Corporate member of an engineering institute.

Experience:

• Previous experience working in a railway control systems engineering environment.
