Job Description

I am currently looking to speak with an experienced technical safety engineer who will take up the position of Principal / Lead role for a UK based company to work out of their client offices on a permanent role in Qatar.

Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 net + Housing Allowance + School Allowance + Travel Allowance (either single or family status).

Projects: Oil & Gas / Hydrogen / CCS / Decarbonisation

Market-leading advisory company focused on providing technical and advisory services to the global energy industry.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience in Technical Safety, Risk and Loss Prevention, or RAM studies.
  • Proven track record in leading and participating in formal safety workshops, including HAZID, HAZOP, and SIL/LOPA.
  • Skilled in executing risk studies, such as QRA, FERA, and EERA, with proficiency in risk-based design and ALARP demonstration.
  • Expertise in Loss Prevention design, covering Active and Passive Fire Protection, Blast Protection, F&G Systems, Hazardous Area Classification, and creation of design drawings.
  • Strong understanding of the UK regulatory framework, including Safety Case and COMAH development.
  • Keen interest in growing within a broad project environment, utilizing a creative approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree or Master’s, preferably in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience, most of which should be with either consultancy or operator in the upstream oil & gas industry sector.
  • Safety Engineering & Technical Integrity experience within a major oil & gas organization.
  • Functional Safety Certification and HAZOP Leader certification.
  • Strong knowledge of safety engineering industry standards & guidelines.
  • Expertise in scenario-based risk assessments, QRA, FERA, SECE identification, performance standards, and barrier development.
  • Experience in Digitalisation.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and facilitation skills.
