Job summary

Astute People requires a Temporary Works Coordinator for a 12-month contract based in London. You will coordinate temporary works across design, engineering and construction, ensuring compliance with BS 5975:2019 and project procedures.

The role interfaces with engineering teams to plan, check, approve, install and maintain temporary works throughout the project lifecycle. You will manage the TW Register, design briefs, checks and approvals, and provide technical guidance while supporting risk

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Solid knowledge of BS 5975:2019.
  • CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Certificate.
  • Experience managing temporary works registers, briefs, checks and approvals.

  • Maintain and update the Temporary Works Register / Schedule.
  • Coordinate requirements between design, engineering and construction teams.
  • Prepare and review temporary works design briefs for designers.
  • Ensure designs comply with approved briefs and documentation.
  • Coordinate design reviews, checks and approvals and track progress.
  • Inspect temporary works installations and ensure compliance.
  • Provide technical guidance to project and construction teams.
  • Support risk management of temporary works during pre-construction and delivery.

Temporary Works Coordinator

Location: London


Contract: 12-month contract


Sector: Major Infrastructure / Nuclear / Civil Engineering


The Role

As Temporary Works Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing temporary works activities across the project, ensuring designs, installations and associated documentation comply with project procedures, relevant legislation and BS 5975:2019.


You will act as a key interface between engineering, design and construction teams, ensuring temporary works are properly planned, checked, approved, installed and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities


  • Maintain and regularly update the Temporary Works Register / Schedule

  • Coordinate temporary works requirements between design, engineering and construction teams

  • Prepare and review temporary works design briefs before issue to designers

  • Ensure temporary works designs comply with the approved design brief

  • Coordinate design reviews, checks, approvals and associated documentation

  • Manage temporary works design progress against the construction programme

  • Ensure sufficient time is allowed for design, checking, approval and installation

  • Manage temporary works design changes and revisions

  • Ensure relevant design check and approval documentation is completed

  • Provide technical guidance to project and construction teams

  • Support the management of temporary works risks during pre-construction and delivery

  • Review method statements, work package plans and construction activities relating to temporary works

  • Carry out inspections of temporary works installations

  • Ensure installations comply with approved designs before loading or use

  • Establish and manage inspection and hold points

  • Produce and review Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Check Sheets

  • Monitor temporary works installations and ensure they are correctly maintained

  • Coordinate with subcontractor Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors

  • Liaise with client representatives and other project stakeholders

  • Support the assessment and ongoing competence of Temporary Works Supervisors

  • Ensure temporary works activities comply with project procedures, safety requirements and applicable standards


Skills & Experience


  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Temporary Works Coordinator

  • Experience within rail, nuclear, major infrastructure or complex civil engineering projects

  • Strong working knowledge of BS 5975:2019

  • A valid CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Training Certificate

  • Experience managing temporary works registers, design briefs, checks and approvals

  • Experience coordinating temporary works designers and construction teams

  • Experience carrying out temporary works inspections and assurance activities

  • Strong understanding of construction risk, design management and temporary works procedures

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills

  • The ability to manage multiple temporary works packages and priorities at the same time

  • HNC/HND or higher qualification in Civil Engineering would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • IEng or CEng status would also be beneficial.


Additional Requirements

Due to the nature of the project, the successful candidate will be required to complete the appropriate DBS and project security clearance process.
