A healthcare organization is looking for a Principal Clinical Scientist in Biochemistry to provide high-quality analytical services and participate in the education of staff. The role involves authorizing results, interpreting investigations, and leading audit projects, ensuring compliance with UKAS standards. Clinical Responsibilities: Show evidence of participating in continuing education (e.g., RCPath, CME or equivalent), self-development, and appraisal. Participate in departmental training and education of laboratory staff. Assist in providing a high-quality 24/7 analytical and Clinical Biochemistry service that meets UKAS accreditation standards and caters to the needs of users and patients. Deliver training and continuing education to medical, nursing, and other hospital and community staff. Deliver lectures and case presentations at Clinical Biochemistry CPD meetings. As Duty Biochemist, be responsible for clinically authorising results and adding interpretative comments proactively (using rules-based practice and ad hoc comments) and reactively (in response to requests for advice). Provide advice on the selection and interpretation of investigations to hospital clinicians, nursing staff, GPs, and other healthcare professionals. Vet referral test requests and authorise results. Initiate, plan, supervise, and conduct audit projects, and act on their outcomes. Advise clinical colleagues on the biochemical aspects of their audit activities.
