The position is based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Institute of Neurological Sciences. It involves supporting the regional neuropsychology service, delivering highly specialised care for patients referred for psychological assessment and treatment related to acute, chronic, and degenerative central nervous system conditions.
The role includes collaboration across regional services, working within a team of clinical/neuropsychologists to support multidisciplinary neuroscience services, major trauma, neurorehabilitation, spinal injuries, and epilepsy services. It offers the opportunity to work closely with a diverse range of professionals, including medical, nursing, and Allied Health Professionals.
The successful candidate will be part of the regional neuropsychology 8A rotation, which involves annual rotations through different services within the regional clinical portfolio. This provides experience in various assessment and therapy services, delivering highly specialised neuropsychological care.
Applicants must hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. Advanced knowledge of neuropsychological assessment tools and interpretation is desirable. Experience in neuropsychology or neurorehabilitation services, either through qualified practice or a specialist placement during the DClinPsy degree, would be advantageous.
This role is suitable for clinical psychologists interested in physical health and neuropsychology, as it involves diagnostics, psychological therapies, family work, and multidisciplinary team consultations across various neuroscience pathways, including neuro-oncology, functional neurology, epilepsy surgery, awake craniotomy, movement disorders, and deep brain stimulation.
Knowledge and experience in acute physical health settings are encouraged, given the skill set required.
