PRINCIPAL AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT – £55,000 to £65,000 + Benefits – Manchester

A nationally respected environmental consultancy is seeking a PRINCIPAL AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT to lead its air quality services in Manchester. This is a top opportunity for a PRINCIPAL AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT to take charge of high-value projects across planning, transport, energy, and industrial compliance sectors in the North of England.

As a PRINCIPAL AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT, you’ll manage complex air dispersion modelling, impact assessments, and environmental permitting work. You’ll oversee project delivery, support junior staff, and liaise directly with planning authorities, developers, and regulatory bodies in and around Manchester.

We’re looking for a PRINCIPAL AIR QUALITY CONSULTANT with:

• 6-10+ years in air quality consultancy or regulatory roles

• Strong understanding of UK planning law, EPUK/IAQM guidance, and DCO frameworks

• Experience using ADMS-Roads, ADMS 5 or AERMOD

• Proven track record in client development and technical leadership

• A degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geography, or Engineering

• Full UK driving licence

This Manchester-based role offers a £55,000 to £65,000 salary, performance bonuses, hybrid working options, pension scheme, and structured progression to Associate or Director level.
