Job description

We are currently recruiting multiple Principal Wastewater (Hydraulic) Modellers for various long-term frameworks across the UK.

RPS, in collaboration with Tetra Tech, has secured a £100 million single-award framework from United Utilities to improve river health in Northwest England. This 10-year program aims to optimize projects, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, low carbon footprint, and cost, supporting the delivery of exceptional water services in the region.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts dedicated to Asset Management and Operational Strategy for water industry clients. We work on innovative projects with a broad portfolio of long-term frameworks, ensuring career stability and growth.

About You:

Candidates should have experience in urban drainage projects, proficiency in InfoWorks ICM, GIS software, and leadership skills to mentor and guide modeling personnel while providing excellent client service.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Manage health, safety, quality, and environmental aspects of projects.
  2. Develop and deliver wastewater catchment strategies, hydraulic modeling, and analyses.
  3. Assess solution feasibility and engineering buildability factors.
  4. Improve tools, procedures, and processes for efficiency and innovation.
  5. Ensure output quality and compliance with standards.
  6. Report on commercial performance, forecasting, and risks.
  7. Contribute to bids and proposals.
  8. Travel as required to client sites or offices.
  9. Lead and build strong client relationships.
  10. Manage project teams, providing technical support, performance management, and career development.
  11. Collaborate with wider disciplines within RPS/Tetra Tech.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Knowledge of water industry legislation and regulation.
  • Leadership in wastewater catchment planning and regulation.
  • Project management skills for small to large projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Staff management and organizational effectiveness skills.
  • Expertise in InfoWorks ICM, hydraulic modeling, GIS (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS), and familiarity with FME, Optimatics, Python is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant technical subject; postgraduate qualifications preferred.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Membership or application to professional institutions like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
