Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to join our team in Hull as a Principal Transport Planning Officer. Based in our Highways team as part of our wider Major Projects and Infrastructure Service, the role forms part of our Strategic Transport and Development team. Working with colleagues in our public transport, engineering carbon management and Local Plan teams, you will be developing the policies, strategies and investment proposals to enable the Council to meet its aspirations for clean economic growth and sustainable travel.

You will play a leading role in developing our transport strategies and policies, such as active travel, parking and EV infrastructure. Ensure ongoing development of our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan. You will provide expert transport advice to assist in the preparation of our revised Local Plan and develop highway and transport improvement proposals to support a safe and sustainable city. There will also be a role in providing advice and engaging with the newly created Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience, you will have experience in developing Local Transport Plans, transport policies or other strategic transport documents. Good communication skills are required and experience in public consultation or engagement would be useful. Good project development and delivery skills to coordinate, plan and monitor projects are also required.
