With significant investments in public transport and active travel infrastructure, we are on a mission to create safer, healthier, and more accessible travel options for everyone.
As we collaborate with West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), Kirklees is growing its bus networks and working to integrate bus, rail, and the upcoming West Yorkshire Mass Transit system. Future plans include exploring a Mass Transit route connecting Leeds, White Rose, and areas of Kirklees like Dewsbury, creating seamless travel options for all. Through funding from initiatives such as theActive Travel Fund,Transforming Cities Fund, and theCity Regional Sustainable Transport Settlement, we are expanding active travel networks and improving urban and rural areas alike.
Excitingly, the multi-billion-poundTranspennine Route Upgradeproject is underway, bringing faster, more reliable trains across the region, with significant improvements to 8 stations within Kirklees, including Huddersfield and Dewsbury. This project is transforming connectivity across the Pennines, connecting communities to Leeds, Manchester, York, Liverpool, and beyond.
