Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to join our client's Transport Planning and Engineering team in their Leicester or Nottingham offices. The role will focus on preparing transport statements, transport assessments and travel plans to accompany planning applications for private sector clients.

You will provide advice on highway and transport planning issues, develop access strategies and feasibility studies, and prepare site access junction designs for highway authority

Qualifications

• Experience in Transport Planning is essential for the role.
• Experience with TRICS, Junctions, LinSig, GIS, AutoCAD, AutoTrack and PDS Sign/Line is advantageous.
• Experience managing multiple projects, client liaison and project finances is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare transport statements, transport assessments and travel plans for planning applications.
• Advise on highway and transport planning issues, including access strategies and feasibility studies.
• Prepare preliminary horizontal designs for site access junctions and highway improvements for approval.
• Ensure work is delivered to a high technical standard within timescales, with independence and mentoring support.
• Develop strong relationships with clients, design teams and highway authorities.
• Manage multiple projects as lead client contact.

My client has an immediate vacancy for a Principal Transport Planner in their Leicester or Nottingham offices to work within their experienced Transport Planning and Engineering team.

Responsibilities

• The position would primarily involve the preparation of transport statements, transport assessments and travel plans to accompany planning applications for private sector clients.
• Providing advice on highway and transport related planning issues, including access strategies and feasibility studies, based on current policy and guidance.
• Preparing preliminary horizontal designs for site access junctions and highway improvements for highway authority approval.
• Ensuring work is delivered to a high technical standard within agreed timescales, working both independently, plus supporting and mentoring other team members.
• Developing strong working relationships with clients, design teams (including internal and external multidisciplinary professionals) and highway authorities.
• Managing multiple projects as the lead client contact

Experience

Experience in Transport Planning is essential to the role, as is experience in using relevant software, such as TRICS and Junctions. Experience using LinSig, GIS, AutoCAD, AutoTrack, PDS Sign/Line and other relevant software would also be an advantage. Experience of working on and managing multiple projects simultaneously, including client liaison and financial elements of project management.

Education

Applicants should have a degree, and ideally with a post-graduate qualification, in a relevant subject, such as Transport, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning.
