Principal Town Planner

Location: Stamford

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with an independent planning consultancy in their search for a Principal Town Planner to join their team based in Stamford. This role is ideal for an experienced planner ready to take on a strategic and client-facing role, contributing to a growing portfolio of high-profile projects.

As a Principal Town Planner, you will be instrumental in leading major planning applications and advising clients on complex planning strategies. This is a great opportunity to take the lead on a wide variety of work while playing a key role in mentoring junior colleagues and supporting the growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as lead planner on large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
  2. Prepare and oversee the submission of complex planning applications and appeals
  3. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
  4. Provide strategic planning advice and policy guidance
  5. Contribute to business development and client engagement
Candidate Requirements:
  • MRTPI qualified with extensive experience in town planning
  • Proven success managing complex planning applications and appeals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A commercial mindset with strong client relationship abilities
  • Experience mentoring or managing junior planners is desirable
