About the job:

Based in Northwood, UK you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join CSU Northwood, which is the leading provider of Communications and Information System (CIS) products and services to locally based NATO entities such as the Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM), Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) remote sites, and the United Kingdom. CSU Northwood enables end-to-end CIS services and manages critical technological capabilities during peacetime, crisis, and war.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Principal Technician (ICT Systems) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

• Assists in the administration of shore-based system administration services for a variety of command and control applications in support of Maritime Command HQ (MARCOM) and NATO flagships, to include the following:
o MCCIS (Maritime Command and Control Information System)
o ICC (Integrated Command and Control Software for Air Operations)
o NIRIS (NATO Interoperable Real-Time Information System
o Joint Tactical Chat (J-Chat)
• Provides expertise to install, configure and set-to-work servers and applications on board Military ships;
• Delivers, maintains, and repairs end user applications;
• Provides support to other high priority application services supporting NATO partners.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

• Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience.
• At least 3 years practical experience of implementation and maintenance of ICT end systems within a large organization;
• Strong experience in application management, system monitoring, software packaging and/or software development;
• At least 2 years recent experience in a large scale ICT service-oriented environment in the following areas:
o troubleshooting and patching
o functional applications within Windows and UNIX
o XMPP chat systems
o configuring hardware and software
• Good understanding of ICT systems and the ability to work independently to solve problems;
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing technical support to end-users;
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
