Qualifications

• CFD simulations for risk and safety studies in oil, gas, chemical, or energy sectors.
• Experience with CFD tools such as FLACS-CFD, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, DNV KFX or FDS.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, combustion chemistry, and explosion science.
• Ability to manage complex models and lead projects.

TV Rheinland Solutions has several vacancies across the company, seeking experienced risk and safety consultants—particularly in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)—to be based in our London, Warrington, Glasgow, and Edinburgh offices to support clients in sectors such as:

• Oil and gas (offshore and onshore)
• Carbon capture and storage
• Chemical manufacturing, handling, and storage
• Hydrogen generation and distribution
• Onshore and offshore wind energy

Role Description

The successful candidate will join an energetic, expanding team and be expected to work effectively and collaboratively on multiple projects in a supportive, progressive environment. This permanent position is preferably based at our London office, but other UK locations will also be considered. The role may involve occasional travel within the UK and worldwide to meet project requirements.

Key Skills

• Applicants should have a relevant science or engineering degree, with strong analytical, numerical, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in areas such as:
• Proven experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation, ideally related to technical safety in industries (e.g., oil and gas, chemical processing, clean energy, etc.)
• Experience using software packages like FLACS-CFD, ANSYS Fluent / CFX, DNV KFX, or FDS for analyzing fluid flow, dispersion, explosion, and fire dynamics
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, combustion chemistry, and explosion science in process safety
• Ability to work with complex models and large datasets, perform detailed analysis, and troubleshoot simulation issues
• Support and guide junior engineers and team members, providing leadership on technical and project delivery aspects
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing and stakeholder presentations
• Project planning and management skills to lead projects from initiation to completion within scope, budget, and timelines
• Experience developing technical proposals and translating client needs into innovative, cost-effective solutions
• Desirable additional experience:
• QRA and other technical safety studies (BRA, EERA, ESSA, FERA, etc.)
• Fire and Gas Mapping
• Experience with consequence modelling software (SAFETI, PHAST, FRED, SHEPHERD, RAM workbenches)
• Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) studies
• Functional Safety
• HPC and cloud computing environments for complex simulations
• Handling large-scale CFD projects using HPC and cloud platforms
• Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards such as ATEX, DSEAR, API
• Marketing experience for promoting technical services and developing business opportunities
• Financial management skills including budgeting and cost control
