Kirkwall Grammar School

Principal Teacher of Maths

35 hours per week (1.0FTE)

KGS is a modern, vibrant school of around 850 pupils with a catchment area which covers Kirkwall, the East Mainland, Orphir and the North and South Isles. Around 60 of our young people are accommodated in Papdale Halls of Residence during term time.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who is committed to improvement and excellence, to lead our Maths department. You will demonstrate effective leadership with a genuine interest in supporting young people to achieve their best. You will have a strong focus on positive outcomes for all young people through the development of high-quality learning and teaching and an inclusive curriculum. You will have the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships across the school community.

You will be able to teach across all stages, with a strong commitment to the development of numeracy. The department currently offers Mathematics at all levels and Applications of Maths at level 4 and 5.

Salary will be based on Point 5 of the Principal Teacher Scale of the SNCT Salary Tables plus a Distant Islands Allowance. We offer a generous relocation package.
