Senior/Principal Systems Engineer

Location: Kent - Hybrid & Flexible working available (Minimum 2 days on site)

Salary: Up to £80,000

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Systems Engineer to join us on a permanent basis. This role involves developing and supplying products across commercial and military platforms. We are looking for system engineers with broad knowledge in these domains to become subject matter experts in one or more product domains or systems engineering specialisms.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Understanding our customers' complex needs and collaborating to develop, validate, and manage requirements at multiple levels
• Developing complex system architectures and sub-systems using a Model-Based Systems Engineering approach
• Integrating, analyzing, and testing real-time systems containing multiple technical disciplines such as electronic, mechanical, optical, and software sub-systems
• Taking accountability for collaborative technical work package execution and outcomes
• Providing guidance, coaching, and nurturing talent in other engineers
• Verifying that customer needs are satisfied
• Steering new and improved systems development through implementation, utilizing best practice systems lifecycle processes, and techniques such as Learn First and Agile

Essential Skills:

• Proven experience developing systems in relevant product markets and domains, such as control systems, real-time displays, or other safety-related systems
• Experience in requirements management, design analyses, modeling, and simulation, using tools such as DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, MATLAB, and/or Simulink, and design methodologies like SysML
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g., Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics)

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in integration, testing, and verification of real-time and safety-related systems
• Understanding of safety assessment processes and their influence on design
• Customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customer needs are satisfied
• Understanding of information assurance, cybersecurity, and environmental impact aspects related to real-time embedded engineering products
