Job summary

Global defence and technology leader is seeking a Principal Systems Administrator to join the enterprise infrastructure team. The role offers a compressed working week with every Friday off and flexible hybrid working.

You will be the technical lead, designing, supporting and evolving secure infrastructure across Windows, Linux and virtualised environments, with on-call duties and mentoring responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a principal systems administrator or equivalent.
• Strong expertise across Windows, Linux, VMware, Citrix and storage platforms.
• Knowledge of ISO20000 and ISO27001 security standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across enterprise infrastructure.
• Lead systems administration on complex projects and programmes.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows, Linux, and virtualised environments.
• Support VMware, Citrix, cloud platforms and enterprise storage.
• Drive improvements in infrastructure availability and performance.
• Support upgrades, deployments and refresh projects.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions.

I'm recruiting on behalf of a global leader in defence and advanced technology, who are looking for an experienced Principal Systems Administrator to join their enterprise infrastructure team.

As the technical lead within the team, you'll play a key role in designing, supporting and evolving secure enterprise infrastructure, providing technical leadership across complex projects and acting as the go-to expert for systems administration.

The Role

• Providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise across enterprise infrastructure
• Leading systems administration activities on complex projects and business-critical programmes
• Installing, configuring, administering and troubleshooting Windows, Linux and virtualised environments
• Supporting VMware, Citrix, cloud platforms and enterprise storage infrastructure
• Driving continuous improvements across infrastructure, availability and performance
• Supporting major upgrades, deployments and technology refresh projects
• Working closely with vendors to resolve complex technical issues and implement new solutions
• Maintaining secure, highly available systems in line with ISO20000 and ISO27001 standards
• Participating in a 24/7 on-call rota supporting planned and emergency changes
• Mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions across the wider infrastructure function
