Job description

Job Title: Principal Support Engineer

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

What you'll be doing:

  • Being the point of contact with the customer (MoD and RN) on all aspects of PMS and integrated systems at a working level
  • Liaising with Rolls-Royce and Nuclear Propulsion MoD teams on integrating Platform Management System and DDMS at the Centralised Control Council
  • Working with Human Factors and Operability to develop the Human-Computer Interface and Consuls Solutions at the CCC, SCC and Electronic Damage Control Management System
  • Main Stakeholder in the production of the Warnings Management Solution for Whole Boat. This will involve multiple and ongoing workshops and document reviews
  • Liaising with MoD, Babcock, RN, ILS and many other organisations to develop the PMS and other complex systems through life support management arrangements
  • Assist in the delivery of Platform Management Systems and Emulators to allow trials to be conducted to prove the usability of PMS, AVS, CCC, SCC and Operational Documentation

Your skills and experiences:

  • Submarine experience at a Cat A or B Watchkeeping level, or equivalent experience possibly with MoD/Rolls-Royce
  • Experience in through-life support of Submarines
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to present to a large audience and produce documents to high standards

The Operations and Through Life Support team:

You will be joining our team working on the cutting-edge Dreadnought-class Submarine, where safety and operational excellence are paramount. This role involves interacting with a wide range of complex systems to ensure the Submarine's safety and performance. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence, in-service Submariners, and key industry partners such as Babcock, Integrated Logistics Support, and trainers. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in developing Through-Life Support Solutions, working closely with our customers within the Alliance to ensure long-term sustainability and effectiveness. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
