Principal Subsea & Pipeline Engineer – Expression of Interest Scope of Work:

Key Deliverables:

  • Being technically responsible for all pipeline and riser engineering work and allocating, supervising and directing preparation of project deliverables. Subject to project size, will delegate some level of supervision and specific checking activities to appropriate competent personnel.
  • Leading or contributing to concept development and feasibility studies for challenging marginal, HPHT, and deep-water subsea developments in the Oil & Gas sector, and design and analysis of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines in the Low Carbon sector.
  • Leading or contributing to a team to deliver pipeline FEED studies; supervising, reviewing and checking the pipeline activities including: Philosophies, Specifications, Routing Studies, Mechanical Design, Material Selection, Corrosion Protection, Stress Analysis, Layouts, Drawings, Datasheets and Technical Requisitions & Bid Evaluations.
  • Leading or contributing to pipeline and riser integrity management, life extension, decommissioning studies, failure investigations, consultancy studies etc.
  • Leading or contributing to subsea cable routing, mechanical design, analysis and assessment in the Offshore Wind and Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Leading or contributing to analytical or non-linear FE methods to solve diverse and complex pipeline and subsea cable problems.
  • Leading or contributing to the development of onshore pipeline routing criteria and routing maps in a GIS environment, allowing for environmental, safety, land rights and legal considerations.
  • Capable of formulating resolutions and supervision of technically challenging and/or high-profile issues, with support from technical colleagues or Project Engineering Manager, and effectively communicating with Clients and Senior Management.
  • Responsible for the successful completion of specific scope on schedule and within resource hour and budget estimates.
  • Complying with the Quality Assurance processes and procedures defined in the Kent Management System (KMS) for successful project delivery

Key Requirements:

  • Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Naval Architecture or similar engineering discipline.
  • Chartered status.
  • Strong offshore / subsea and/or onshore pipelines experience.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of pipeline engineering, and of UK and International regulatory frameworks, codes, and standards. Good understanding of global buckling, limit states, and HPHT issues is considered advantageous.
  • Experience of concept / feasibility design studies for subsea or onshore developments; experience of FEED projects.
  • Experience of integrity management of subsea and/or onshore pipelines is considered advantageous.
  • Experience of pipeline analysis to support design and operations; in-depth knowledge of finite element methods is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and analysis of subsea cables is considered advantageous.
  • Experience in the design and assessment of CO2 and H2 onshore and offshore pipelines is considered advantageous.
  • Experience of subsea pipeline, cable and structure decommissioning studies is considered advantageous.
  • Proven success in delivering studies and preparing clear, concise reports against time, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Enthusiasm to challenge existing practices, improve technical methodologies and analysis techniques.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, reliable, and mature approach to work.

    The interview may last up to an hour, and we’ll ask you about your experience, technical skills, and relevant competencies. All the notes taken during your interview will be held securely against your candidate profile on the applicant tracking system.

    Some roles may require a second interview as part of the hiring process.

  • Next steps after the interview process

    Following the completion of the interview process, you should expect to hear from our Talent team typically within a week.

    If you’ve been successful, we’ll reach out to you with an offer.

    Upon acceptance, we’ll agree on a start date and begin the onboarding process through our People & Culture team – who will help with making your onboarding process as smooth and stress-free as possible.
