Qualifications

  • Chartered Membership of IStructE or equivalent is required.
  • 10+ years’ post-graduate experience in consultancy is preferred.
  • Proficiency in hand calculations and structural design software is a must.
  • Clean driving record and valid license are needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and delivery across a portfolio of projects.
  • Provide quality assurance and oversee junior engineers' design work.
  • Act as senior engineer on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Mentor junior staff and support skills development.
  • Conduct site inspections, condition surveys and client reporting.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Chartered Principal Structural Engineer (MIStructE or equivalent) with strong leadership and technical credentials to lead projects across our Caribbean locations. The successful candidate will oversee the structural design of complex residential and commercial buildings, manage and mentor junior engineers, and provide strategic input to the future growth of the company.This role is ideally suited for a motivated engineer with expatriate experience, keen to work in a unique tropical setting while contributing to technically demanding and rewarding projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Lead structural design and delivery across a portfolio of projects
  • • Provide quality assurance and review of design work by junior engineers
  • • Act as senior engineer on multidisciplinary teams
  • • Mentor junior staff and support skills development
  • • Conduct site inspections, condition surveys and client reporting
  • • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies
  • • Design using concrete, steel, and timber – often from first principles
  • • Apply advanced understanding of wind and seismic design principles

Requirements

  • • BSc, BEng or MEng in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • • Chartered Membership of IStructE (or equivalent)
  • • 10+ years’ post-graduate experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized consultancy
  • • Strong experience in reinforced concrete, steel, and timber design
  • • Proven leadership and project management capabilities
  • • Proficiency in hand calculations and structural design software (e.g., Tekla Structures, TEDDS, CADS RC, Robot, ETABS)
  • • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit experience desirable
  • • Experience with British Standards preferred
  • • Demonstrable success in expatriate or remote-location roles
  • • Excellent written and spoken English
  • • Clean driving record and valid license
