Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP in Manchester is seeking an experienced Structural Revit Technician to join our team. You will lead on BIM projects, prepare drawings using Revit and AutoCAD, and support the civil and structural engineering team across the Manchester office.

You will liaise with architects and engineers, ensure QA procedures, and manage production deliverables within project programmes. UK-building project experience and Revit proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• Lead on BIM protocols and BEP review to ensure standards are met.
• Prepare drawings using Revit/AutoCAD and production drawings for Ridge teams.
• Collaborate with technicians/engineers to develop models and GA drawings.

Responsibilities

• Take a project lead role in compliance with BIM protocols.
• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD or Revit models and resultant production drawings, schedules, etc for the Ridge civil and structural engineering team and to assist other teams within Ridge
• Work with other engineering technicians and engineers to develop models and produce general arrangement drawings, sections and details for structures designed by the group
• Liaise with architects, building services engineers and other professionals to ensure models and drawings are developed to program
• Check own work and others’ output to ensure accuracy and compliance with QA procedures
• Complete work to agreed timescales, programme and budget constraints
• Attend site inspections and project team meetings as required
• Negotiate and agree deliverables, create and own information required schedules and reports

Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced Structural Revit Technician to join our team in the Manchester office.

Our projects include large complex schemes with contract values over £200 million to smaller local client focussed tasks. We work both across UK with a diverse mix of clients and sectors including Industrial, Commercial, Residential, Advanced Manufacturing and Defence.

We cover a wide range of disciplines in property and construction, you will play an important role in strengthening our structural engineering team not only within the Manchester office but also across our Northern Region. You will also have the ability to play a leading role on projects alongside a mentoring role for other members of the team.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

• Take a project lead role in compliance with BIM protocols. Review and agree BEP’s and ensure the wider team are working to required standards.
• Prepare drawings using AutoCAD or Revit models and resultant production drawings, schedules, etc for the Ridge civil and structural engineering team and to assist other teams within Ridge
• Work with other engineering technicians and engineers within the team to develop models and produce general arrangement drawings, sections and details for structures designed by the group
• Liaise with architects, building services engineers and other professionals both within Ridge and with outside companies to ensure that models, drawings, details, schedules, etc are developed correctly and in accordance with the design programme for deliverables
• Exercise the skill, care and judgement to be expected of an experienced engineering technician to ensure that civil and structural engineering drawings for which you are responsible are complete, correctly detailed and free from error
• Take responsibility for checking own work and work produced by others, including external consultants, sub-consultants and contractors, embracing drawings and associated production deliverables
• Ensure that Ridge document management and QA procedures are complied with
• Complete work to agreed timescales, programme and budgetary constraints
• Manage team technician resources and feed into the wider team resource meeting.
• Attend site inspections, project team meetings / workshops as required.
• Negotiate and agree deliverables, create and own information required schedules, oversee out monitor and report on progress.

The skills and experience you need to have for this role

• Preferably ONC or HNC or Equivalent in Building Structures or Civil Engineering
• Design office experience in similar consultancies
• Working on building projects in the UK
• Proficient in the use of Revit Structure Software and BIM processes
• Experience of new build in structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber.
