Job summary

Lanesra Technical Recruitment Ltd is partnering with a Tier 1 design and build contractor to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer. The role is based across UK regions including Manchester, London, Derby, West Midlands, Exeter or Glasgow, with hybrid working arrangements available.

The successful candidate will lead structural design for water treatment and sewage plants, ensuring Eurocode compliance and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Water treatment and sewage treatment project experience.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes and CDM regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural design calculations for Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment plants; including new builds and modifications.
• Review structural content of construction drawings/models.
• Ensure buildability, standardisation and DfMA, and safety compliance on site per CDM.
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines and with internal and external resources; support junior staff.

Position: Principal Structural Engineer

Location: Manchester, London, Derby, West Midlands, Exeter or Glasgow

Rate/Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 (DOE) Plus Bonus, Car/Allowance and Excellent Benefits

Our Client is a Tier 1 design and build contractor operating in the water sector. They have over 1,500 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting ten long term water sector frameworks operating both on their own and increasingly in joint ventures and alliances.

They are recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineers to be based within any of their UK regions with hybrid working available.

Responsibilities:

You will report directly to the Structures Lead and your role will provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. To ensure this the you will co-ordinate the design and produce structural design documents and drawings taking due account of health and safety requirements, specifications and standards pertaining to the contract.

• Production of structural design calculations for all aspects of Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment plants, including both new build and modifications to existing plants
• Review of structural content of construction drawings/models
• Review of subcontract design proposals Ensuring all work is considered for buildability, standardisation and DfMA, and for safety on site complying with CDM regulations
• Reinforced concrete and steelwork design to all relevant Eurocodes and British Standards Co-ordination and liaison within a multi-discipline organisation including construction oversight and site support
• Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the discipline
• Resource planning and responsibility for project delivery within budget and programme
• Coordination of designs with other disciplines and use of resources both internal and external
• Provide support to civil design staff
• Provide support to help develop junior staff
• Ensure designs take account of environmental issues
• Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and process disciplines
• Work collaboratively with the extended team in Pune and Singapore

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

• Strong structural engineering design background, including technical detailing for Water Treatment and Sewage Treatment Projects
• A proven track record of structural engineering within the water with a desire to work in a design and build environment
• Good knowledge of structural analysis and ability to use Microsoft Excel and design software such as StaadPro and Tekla TEDDS
• Degree qualified in Civil and/or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
• Membership of a relevant professional institution
• Good track record for the design of water retaining structures to construction standard using Eurocodes
• Good working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.

This role is office based but may require some travelling within the UK occasionally.
