Role Description

Our client, a leading organisation within the maritime defence sector, is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join their team at the Haslar Marine Technology Park. The role involves working on marine solutions including surface ships, submarines, and renewable energy devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering program leads and project management to assign and oversee work
  • Manage technical tasks within quality, time, and budget constraints
  • Develop expertise and mentor others in engineering teams
  • Promote collaboration across groups and technical teams
  • Coordinate with Safety Engineering to ensure compliance with standards
  • Develop technical strategies with partner organisations for business development
  • Apply governance consistently across technical programs and act as reviewer

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in FEA of structures and systems
  • Experience with non-ferrous metals and composite materials, design, and manufacturing
  • Competency in FEA software, preferably Abaqus
  • Proficiency in CAD software
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
  • Experience in subsurface and defence platform design is advantageous but not essential
