Job summary

Ramboll Bristol is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of major projects, develop structural concepts, and apply sound engineering judgment. You will act as a technical lead for clients, coach engineers, and collaborate with architects and contractors to provide integrated, sustainable solutions.

You will contribute to the growth of the Bristol I&IF team, promote low-carbon design, and engage with Ramboll’s international network while delivering technically

Qualifications

• Chartered with IStructE, ICE or international equivalent.
• Significant experience delivering technically challenging projects.
• High level of technical competence in steel, concrete and/or timber.
• Experience leading design teams and taking technical responsibility.
• Excellent communication to explain engineering principles to clients and colleagues.
• Ability to build strong client relationships and collaboration.
• Willingness to coach others and contribute to team development.
• Multidisciplinary mindset and interest in broader project drivers.
• Passion for sustainable, efficient engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and delivery of projects or major elements.
• Develop and agree structural concepts, design philosophies, and solutions.
• Apply advanced engineering judgement to complex problems.
• Ensure technical quality of work by self and team.
• Act as technical lead and adviser to clients, representing Ramboll.
• Inspire, coach and develop engineers within the Bristol team.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors and other disciplines.
• Promote innovative and low-carbon design approaches.
• Contribute to growth and development of the Bristol I&IF team.
