Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking a Principal Engineer (Structures) to lead structural engineering projects from feasibility through detailed design to construction management. Qualifications

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with a proven track record leading structural projects.
• Experience across all phases from design to execution and delivery.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, safety standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, design and delivery of structural engineering projects, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
• Manage project budgets, monitor performance and liaise with agencies and stakeholders.
• Provide mentorship and support to team members and review contract documentation.
• Conduct inspections and represent Powys County Council in meetings and committees.
• Incorporate ecological and biodiversity considerations into design and construction processes.
