This small, well-established Croydon-based specialist design consultancy is part of a large utilities contractor group.
They specialize in structural design for projects in the power industry. These projects are highly technical, often specialist schemes, involving clients such as UKPN and SSE.
You will join a very experienced team where everyone takes responsibility for their projects.
This role is for an experienced, hands-on structural design engineer, capable and willing to act as a technical lead. You will handle entire projects autonomously, providing complex design solutions. You should have extensive buildings design experience and ideally be Chartered. Experience in the power sector is highly advantageous.
The types of projects include substation design, battery storage facilities, blast-resistant buildings, switch houses, GIS buildings, transformer housing, and designing specialist steelwork structures and supports underground and within tunnels for heavy power cables. Projects involve both refurbishment and new builds, typically in steel and concrete, with some masonry, ranging from small to multi-million-pound schemes.
The work is interesting and complex, with each project being unique.
The role requires some travel to sites in London and the South East, with a pool car provided.
