About the role:

Balfour Beatty is recruiting a Principal Structural/Civil Designer to join the Power Transmission and Distribution Team in Derby. The role focuses on:

• Design delivery and suitability for Power T&D construction projects, especially OHL foundations and geotechnical delivery.
• Collaborating with project teams, designers, and subcontractors to ensure safe and appropriate scope of works.
• Providing advice on constructability, sequencing, and geotechnical support.
• Engaging in bid development, tendering, and innovation projects.

Key responsibilities include leading a section of the geotechnical and OHL foundation design team, managing foundation and geotechnical designs from conception to installation, ensuring compliance with standards, and embedding 'Safety by Design' principles.

Skills required:

• Management experience and degree in civil or geotechnical engineering.
• Chartered status preferred (ICE or IStruct).
• Proven experience in civil engineering design, geotechnical design, and management of civil or geotechnical works.
• IT literacy, experience with Tekla Tedds, and knowledge of Eurocode and British standards.
