Job Description:

Principal Stress Engineer

• Location: Basildon (Hybrid - 1 day p/w on site)
• Contract duration: 6 months (minimum)

**Note: Only Sole UK nationals can be considered for this role due to security restrictions**

The successful candidate will conduct stress analysis, communicate results, and advise on structural engineering activities.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze mechanical designs for strength, durability, performance, and safety using finite element techniques and hand calculations.
• Create finite element models and reports compliant with UK requirements.
• Support selection of manufacturing technologies and materials based on physical and mechanical properties.
• Perform structural and thermo-structural analyses of complex products using Siemens NX.
• Advise on mechanical structural designs to meet product requirements.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and contractual standards (military/civil).
• Serve as point of contact for stress and structural dynamics throughout the product lifecycle.

Technical requirements:

• Proficiency in classical hand calculations for static/dynamic loads and fatigue assessment (Land, Naval, or Airborne equipment).
• Experience with environmental test methods for design verification and design certification for land-based and airborne equipment.
• Proven experience with Finite Element Analysis software, preferably Siemens NX/Nastran.

This role is hybrid, based at our Basildon site, with on-site or home-based work determined by project and security needs.
