Job Title: Principal Software Engineer – x8

Salary: Up to £68,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

1. Derive and maintain software requirements from baseline system requirements.
2. Produce and maintain software designs to meet requirements.
3. Undertake peer reviews and verification of solutions within Maritime Services.
4. Conduct technical reviews, verify, and authorize software designs.
5. Act as a technical lead for software solutions at a sub-system level.
6. Maintain software solutions to address defects and add functionality.
7. Support team development to enhance skills and competencies.
8. Create or assist in software estimates for sub-systems.

Your skills and experiences:

• Experience with at least one high-level programming language.
• Knowledge of high-level design methodologies, e.g., UML.
• Experience across the software lifecycle and familiarity with models like Waterfall and Agile.
• BEng/BSc in Computer Science or relevant engineering/science field.
• Knowledge of software standards such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207.
• Knowledge of Ada95.
• Working towards or possessing CEng or equivalent capability.
• Understanding of configuration management and tools.
• Knowledge of model-based techniques is a plus.
