Job summary

Leonardo UK in the United Kingdom is seeking a Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps) to accelerate secure software delivery across defence and security programmes.

You will lead and mentor teams, drive automation, and shape our enterprise DevSecOps capabilities across cloud, on‑prem, and hybrid environments.

The role focuses on designing development and deployment environments, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring secure-by-design throughout the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• Hands-on CI/CD experience and tooling.
• Experience with cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments with security considerations.
• Experience with enterprise DevOps and DevSecOps tools supporting modern software delivery.
• Background in software engineering, platform engineering, IT operations or related discipline.
• Experience with requirements management, configuration management and version control tools.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code, automation and deployment technologies.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.
• Strong communication skills to mentor and influence technical teams.
• Passion for automation, continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
