Job summary
Controls Engineering Solutions Ltd seeks a Principal Process Automation Software Engineer in Peterborough to lead design, development and delivery of PLC-based automation on the Rockwell platform. You will mentor engineers and drive projects from requirements to commissioning at customer sites.

Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years' experience with Rockwell Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC programming.
- Minimum 10 years' experience with Rockwell Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View SE (SCADA/HMI).
- Extensive project background, leading design, testing and commissioning of process control systems.
- Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor other engineers.
- Electrical engineering degree or apprenticeship, or equivalent.
- Experience working to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Based within commuting distance of Peterborough.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across process automation projects, setting software standards and best practice.
- Mentor and develop engineers, reviewing their designs and code.
- Act as the senior technical point of contact for clients, project engineers and design teams.
- Lead PLC and SCADA software development on the Rockwell Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and FactoryTalk View SE platforms.
- Design and implement control logic for process automation systems, integrating field instrumentation.
- Configure, test and optimise automation software to improve process performance.
- Deliver project-specific design and engineering tasks on time and to a high standard.
- Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations and customer specifications.
- Lead testing and commissioning of project deliverables, including on-site commissioning and post-installation support.
- Produce clear technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Comply with all QHSE regulations, company policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensure safe, reliable and compliant operation of control systems.
- Support colleagues and the wider needs of the business.

The Principal Process Automation Software Engineer will lead the design, development and delivery of PLC-based process automation and control systems on the Rockwell Allen-Bradley platform. As the senior software engineer, the postholder will provide technical leadership, mentor the engineering team and take projects from requirements through to commissioning and post-installation support at customer sites.
