A leading company in technology seeks a software engineer to enhance Azure Networking capabilities. You will design solutions for cloud services, working with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to a culture of innovation and collaboration. This role requires a strong technical background in software development and a passion for driving impactful technology solutions.
The Azure Networking team continues to innovate across the entire technology stack, introducing new levels of scalability and features into both cloud and desktop platforms. At the same time, the team is transforming our infrastructure to meet the growing demands of more than 200 Microsoft online services. These include Bing, Microsoft Start (formerly MSN), Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive, and hundreds of thousands of customers who use Microsoft Azure to host and operate their cloud-based services. These services are supported by over 100 data centers and millions of servers and edge computing nodes distributed globally.
Our teams are responsible for a wide range of networking solutions, including Networking hardware and optical and Internet Protocol (IP) networks that span subsea, terrestrial, and metropolitan fiber. Hybrid services that enable connectivity between customers' on-premises networks and the cloud using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). Edge services that optimize peering and routing. Software Defined Networking (SDN) products that allow customers to extend their on-premises services into the cloud using Virtual Networks (VNet), Load Balancers, Network Security Groups and Services, Application Gateways, and Virtual Appliances to replicate on-premises architectures. Domain Name System (DNS) services to facilitate service discovery and traffic management.
Software Defined Networking (SDN) empowers customers to design and control the network environment best suited for their workloads in the cloud. This includes traditional enterprise network functions such as Access Control Lists (ACLs), firewalls, load balancers, Intrusion Prevention Systems/Intrusion Detection Systems (IPS/IDS), and Denial of Service (DoS) protection. These capabilities are essential for customers who want to implement robust network security and performance for their virtual machines (VMs) in the cloud.
All of these services are delivered over a shared, high-speed, low-complexity physical network built on merchant silicon. The software layer enables the creation of a virtual network on top of this physical infrastructure, using virtualized hosts as the scale-out engine for policy enforcement. This approach allows the physical network to remain cost-effective and extremely fast. The result is a new, software-controlled, virtualized network optimized for the cloud-representing a once-in-a-decade technological transformation. The entire industry is embracing the vision of Software Defined Networking and actively investing in it. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of two major technological disruptions: cloud computing and Software Defined Networking. Join the core Microsoft Azure team responsible for developing highly available, robust, and scalable load balancing technologies in the cloud. This service is used by millions of customers daily and requires continuous innovation to enhance feature offerings, agility, reliability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
