The opportunity:

Leonardo is a global leader in defence electronics, designing systems for situational awareness, surveillance, and protection across land, sea, and air. The Radar and Advanced Targeting business, based in Edinburgh, is among the top manufacturers of radars, lasers, and infra-red countermeasure systems worldwide.

We seek a talented, passionate, and ambitious Principal Software Engineer to join our Service Cloud team. Your role involves integrating our sensor suite across platforms to enhance data fusion and provide services to field actors. You will facilitate real-time information exchange and streaming data to engineers and analysts for developing and deploying new solutions in a dynamic environment. Preferred experience includes:

  • Experience as an embedded software engineer.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (REST, SOAP, TCP/IP, PCIe, Kafka).
  • Exposure to architectural frameworks (FACE, CORBA, ECOA, MOSA).
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of design patterns, standards like RTCA DO-178C, and coding standards such as AUTOSAR.
  • Understanding of IoT.
  • Experience with Agile development and Atlassian tools.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, defect tracking, peer review, and CI/CD solutions on custom hardware.
  • Personal attributes and values are highly valued alongside technical skills.
