About the Role

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for another Principal Engineer to join our highly motivated team.

Broker Insights aims to reinvent its product set. As an experienced developer, you will work within the Broker Insights technical team to develop new products. This includes setting architectural direction to ensure products are fit for purpose initially and provide a solid foundation for ongoing development and upgrades.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in building and improving world-class solutions, including data analysis and visualization. You should be an experienced cloud developer who can create performant, secure cloud-based solutions using cutting-edge cloud technology.

You will have experience as a technical lead on projects, including setting technical direction, evaluating third-party tools, and mentoring junior staff to enhance team productivity. A good understanding of effective team processes such as code review and automated testing is essential.

As a creative, self-motivated thinker, you should communicate effectively across all business levels and be eager to build, test, and improve solutions in our fast-paced environment. Formal qualifications in a related discipline are preferred.

Our Tech Stack

We build modern, scalable cloud applications using:

• Backend: PHP 8.x with Symfony
• Frontend: Vue 3 + TypeScript
• Databases: MySQL (Aurora), DynamoDB, and other NoSQL technologies
• Infrastructure: AWS (fully hosted), Serverless Framework, and Terragrunt for infrastructure-as-code (IaC)
• CI/CD: GitHub Actions / BitBucket pipelines and other tools for automated testing and deployment

We value strong experience with application architecture and understanding of cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and building reliable production systems.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in building and improving modern full-stack web applications
• Deep knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (PHP experience is a plus but not essential) and JavaScript/TypeScript (Vue.js experience preferred, but Angular or React acceptable)
• Experience designing and implementing cloud applications in AWS
• Comfortable working with relational and NoSQL databases
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and serverless architecture
• Proven technical leadership, mentoring, and setting engineering standards
• Ability to evaluate and integrate third-party tools and services
• A passion for collaboration, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
• Experience in data analysis and visualization, especially in commercial or insurance data, is a strong plus
