Principal Simulation and Modelling Engineer
Salary: Circa £55,000
Location: Bristol – Hybrid Working, 4-5 Days per Week On-Site

Are you an experienced engineer, physicist or mathematician with a strong background in dynamic complex systems modelling? Our client is seeking a Principal Simulation and Modelling Engineer to join their Surface Launched Air Defence and Future Systems teams in Bristol.

The Role:
You will develop, integrate, and validate dynamic numerical models primarily using MATLAB and Simulink, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through assessment to in-service support.

Your expertise will help drive continuous integration, validation against real-world data, and high-quality technical solutions for system integration and performance assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and validate numerical models using MATLAB, Simulink, and other relevant programming languages
• Integrate external models and code (C/C++, FMUs, co-simulation frameworks) into simulation environments
• Provide technical leadership and represent the modelling team in cross-functional projects

What You’ll Need:

• Proven hands-on experience with MATLAB and Simulink
• Strong understanding of dynamic systems and numerical modelling
• Knowledge of software development lifecycles, model-based design, and systems engineering
• Experience with scripting and automation tools such as GitLab and Jenkins
• Familiarity with version control tools like Git and Engineering Workflow Management (EWM)
• Experience generating automated C/C++ code from Simulink models
• Agile working experience (Scrum, Kanban)
