Job Description:

The transmission and distribution sector is rapidly transforming due to increasing demand, regulatory changes, ambitious carbon reduction targets, and technological innovations.

We are seeking experienced HV Cable Design Engineers for future opportunities, particularly at Principal/Senior Engineer levels within our Energy Team. This team offers the chance to work on diverse projects such as HVDC, interconnectors, wind farms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, and connection schemes.

The role involves working as part of the Cable team on electrical substation design, major renewables, HVDC interconnectors, offshore grids, and FEED design. Collaboration with other disciplines and leadership responsibilities are expected. Experience with key T&D clients in the UK is preferred.

You will join a growing, collaborative team committed to developing innovative and sustainable solutions addressing industry-wide efficiency and environmental challenges. This is a significant opportunity to contribute to the UK’s energy transition.

About You

You should be proactive, knowledgeable about the electricity transmission and distribution industry, and capable of coaching and collaborating within the wider energy team.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, with Chartered Engineer registration (preferred). Experience as a civil substation engineer and awareness of HV civil engineering projects are also desirable.

Additional preferred experience:

  • Design (Concept, FEED, detail) of transmission & distribution systems for utility companies based on international standards
  • Inter-disciplinary coordination and problem resolution
  • Cable design, routing, trenchless solutions, bonding, phasing, pulling, termination, and jointing
  • Proficiency with CYMCAP software and cable sizing calculations
  • Ability to handle challenging workloads with short-notice changes
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Office, AutoCAD or MicroStation
