Job Description:

Leonardo UK is seeking an experienced Principal Consultant to join the Cyber & Security Solutions Division. This role involves supporting security aspects of core products and external stakeholder projects, coordinating with engineering teams, and managing cyber and information security throughout the engineering lifecycle.

This role offers the chance to work on significant programs, ensuring product standards meet customer requirements and risk appetite, within a team of consultants, engineers, and specialists. The position may involve hybrid work, combining remote and on-site activities at Leonardo offices.

Key Responsibility Areas

• Leading or independently managing cyber and information security delivery across the engineering lifecycle.
• Translating customer requirements into security management plans and activities.
• Becoming the lead security SME for the product.
• Overseeing and delivering statements of work within time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Managing risks and issues, and escalating as needed.
• Managing customer relationships for security workstreams.
• Mentoring team members as required.

Skills, Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience Required

Must have a passion for cyber security and:

• Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and communicate effectively at all levels.
• A degree or MSc in engineering or cyber security, or recognized professional cyber security certification.
• 5+ years of delivery experience in cyber/engineering roles.
• Experience with MOD accreditation, secure by design processes, and relevant standards like NIST and Defence standards.
• Experience managing risks and services per customer and regulatory expectations.
• Experience with diverse software, firmware, and hardware beyond traditional enterprise IT.
• Ability to analyze design constraints, conduct risk assessments, and guide security verification activities.

Desirable skills include:

• Understanding of engineering lifecycle and gate reviews.
• Knowledge of cryptographic technologies and MOD/NCSC standards.
• Experience with cyber security and airworthiness standards.
