Job summary

Ofgem is seeking a Principal Security Architect to provide strategic leadership across our digital, data and security services. You will shape long-term security strategy and influence senior stakeholders across government and our organisation.

In this highly visible role, you will embed secure-by-design principles, oversee secure development lifecycle and ensure alignment with CAF and NCSC guidance, while delivering resilient, trusted services for energy consumers.

Qualifications

• Expert-level security architecture and secure design
• Experience with cloud and microservices architectures
• Ability to influence architectural decisions at organisational level
• Strong communication with senior stakeholders across government and organisation
• Experience in regulated environments and security governance

Responsibilities

• Lead embedment of secure-by-design principles across development and digital services
• Provide expert consultancy on complex security architecture challenges
• Lead security architecture assurance aligned with CAF and NCSC guidance
• Influence strategic and architectural decisions with senior stakeholders
• Develop long-term security architecture strategies, principles and standards
• Oversee secure development lifecycle and tooling across engineering teams
• Review security posture and drive improvements across IT estate
• Guide teams on security tooling and secure delivery practices
• Manage risk registers and ensure risk reduction in line with appetite
• Assure security architecture artefacts for projects and supplier contracts
• Support governance and reporting through Technical Design Authority forums
