Job description

We’re looking for a Principal Scrum Master

About Brit

At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist. To help people and businesses face the future and thrive. We are change‑makers enabled by a global workforce who collaborate to deliver a risk service. A team empowered to help our customers not only to survive the risks they face, but to stay on the front foot and keep moving forward. We believe the uncertainty of tomorrow isn’t something to fear but to seize; that it’s full of potential. Not only for our customers but our employees too.

We might write the future of risk for our brokers and clients, but we would love to help you write your future at Brit: a future based on not just progressing but on thriving – both professionally and emotionally. If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference read on.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a leading role in improving the effectiveness of Agile delivery across squads, domains and the wider Technology department. Working closely with the Head of Agile, Scrum Masters, Product Delivery Managers, Engineering, Product and other stakeholders, you’ll combine hands‑on Scrum Master support with coaching, mentoring and continuous improvement to strengthen alignment, collaboration, transparency and value delivery.

You’ll support one or more squads where needed, facilitating planning, stand‑ups, reviews and retrospectives while helping teams strengthen ownership and accountability. You’ll identify and help remove impediments, improve flow and resolve bottlenecks, while supporting cross‑team planning, dependency management, backlog quality, estimation and forecasting. You’ll also partner with the Head of Agile to evolve practical ways of working, planning approaches, tooling, processes and metrics at team and scaled levels.

Using delivery data, feedback and team insight, you’ll identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, predictability and outcomes. You’ll mentor Scrum Masters, guide teams and leaders in Agile principles and behaviours, and help people navigate ambiguity and make informed trade‑offs. You’ll also support an Agile Community of Practice, creating workshops, training and learning materials that build capability and encourage consistent, pragmatic ways of working across Brit.

We welcome everyone wholeheartedly

We’ve got a truly diverse, genuinely inclusive work environment. We comfortably and confidently bring our whole selves to work, because we know we’ll be respected, valued and accepted whoever we are. Our Employee Resource groups are safe spaces for people to share their experiences, aspirations and suggestions about how we do things.
