We are launching our own laboratories to accelerate our research programs. We seek a highly skilled and motivated Principal Scientist to be part of the founding team. The successful candidate will influence the scientific strategy of the company, utilizing expertise, innovation, and creative thinking to maximize the impact of our science. The role involves leading work from the bench for external client programs and internal R&D, with additional responsibilities for laboratory management, supported by the leadership team, including full commercial, regulatory, and QMS support.

The laboratory's purpose is to develop novel biomarker assays to enhance health monitoring with potential for commercialization and scientific breakthroughs. It will also run ‘omics assays as a service for academic, biotech, and biopharmaceutical clients, collaborating on research and commercialization programs. The role requires designing research programs to solve complex problems and driving internal research to support further commercialization efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the scientific direction of the laboratories for biomarker identification and commercialization.
  • Develop, validate, and operate advanced 'Omics assays.
  • Contribute to the company's scientific strategy alongside the leadership team.
  • Serve as a key contact for clients and internal research teams.
  • Assist in setting up new laboratory and office facilities.
  • Supervise a small scientific team, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • Support assay development and troubleshooting within the scientific team.
  • Ensure operational efficiency of the laboratories, including equipment maintenance, supplies, and operational systems.

Qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Experience managing laboratory operations with compliance and service delivery responsibilities.
  • Hands-on experience in bioanalytical assay development (e.g., ELISA, NGS, qPCR).
  • Experience in proteomic assay design, execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of biomarker discovery and validation for clinical or translational research.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks beyond GCP/GLP (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP, HTA).
  • Experience establishing new laboratories is advantageous but not essential.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship abilities, including performance management.
  • Familiarity with LIMS and data management systems.
  • Experience in client interaction, project scoping, and delivery.
  • Strong project management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Track record of publications, patents, or grant contributions.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, negotiations, and budgets.
