Principal SAP Engineer

Full Time Perm

Way of Work: Hybrid

Salary: $129,500 - $194,300 plus 10% annual bonus

Location: Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN

The Principal SAP Engineer in the NiSource IT department is a leadership role responsible for driving the delivery and continuous improvement of technical solutions that support key work asset management platforms. This role involves hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. As a Principal Engineer, you will lead the charge in ensuring that our technical solutions align with strategic business goals and drive innovation within the organization.

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and guidance in the design and development of solutions for SAP platforms.
  • Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement software solutions that enhance the functionality and performance of these platforms.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and stakeholders, to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews and ensure that solutions meet quality standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing support and maintenance for existing systems.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement in platform solutions.

Technical responsibilities: SAP

  • SAP BASIS: Knowledge of SAP system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • SAP HR: Experience with SAP Human Capital Management (HCM) modules.
  • SAP Security: Expertise in SAP security concepts and user management.
  • SAP Functional: Proficiency in SAP MM/QM, PM modules.
  • SAP Financial: Experience with SAP FI/CO modules.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP development and implementation.
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing ABAP source code.
  • Experience as a technical lead, leading large transformation programs, and aligning technical solutions with strategic business goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in relevant IT areas (e.g., SAP).
  • Experience in a similar industry or sector.
