This is a unique opportunity for a Functional Safety Engineer to lead safety assurance activities on naval vessel Platform Management Systems, including surface ships and submarines.
You will oversee safety activities related to product development and support mission-critical naval operations.
The company develops and supports international command and control solutions, serving as a centre of excellence for systems and software.

Your Role:
  • Report to the Product Safety Manager
  • Derive safety activities and schedules to meet project milestones and safety requirements
  • Lead safety activities to ensure safety targets are met by the system design, considering hardware, software, and firmware
  • Conduct safety audits at design reviews and safety meetings
  • Ensure high-standard technical documentation
  • Lead safety analysis (HAZOPS, FMECA, etc.) to influence design decisions
  • Present safety arguments to stakeholders
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
  • Stay updated on safety standards and practices
  • Contribute to meetings and reports
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff
  • Travel within the UK and overseas as needed

Eligibility: SC Clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency), UK citizenship. Relevant experience in safety-related engineering, understanding of IEC61508 and Def Stan 00-056 standards, experience with safety assurance of COTSPE systems or high integrity software, understanding hardware/software failure modes, and safety analysis techniques. Education: Masters, Degree, HND, or HNC in Engineering or Safety Management.
