We are looking to recruit a Principal Safety Engineer on a 12-month contract based in Leatherhead, Surrey.

On Offer:

• Competitive hourly pay rate
• Outside IR35, highly likely, so engagement via a Ltd Co. is permitted
• Hybrid working - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home

Responsibilities

Ideal candidates will work as part of a project team and perform all aspects of the Technical Safety scope area, including:

• Safety Critical Elements and Performance Standards
• Develop safety specifications
• Functional Safety design and input to Safety Lifecycle planning
• Design of safety systems (firewater, blast protection, etc.)
• Management of safety packages
• Liaison with 3rd parties undertaking safety studies, e.g., QRA
• Safety representation in HAZID and HAZOP reviews
• With additional experience within one or more areas of Technical Safety, review the work of others
• Assist in the design of larger and more complex assignments
• Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers
• With appropriate experience, supervise and lead the project Technical Safety team

Skills and Experience

Skills gained through undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including final year design projects and work placements, are essential. Candidates should be able to undertake specific areas of Technical Safety scope independently and verify the completeness of deliverables such as safety layouts and reports.

Qualifications

• BEng or equivalent in science or engineering (typically Chemical Engineering)
• Chartered Engineer: membership of an accredited Institution, e.g., IChemE
