Job Opportunity: Principal Safety Engineer

The Energy Division at ARM is recruiting an experienced Principal Safety Engineer to join a world-leading nuclear defense client. The offices are based in Bristol, Altrincham, Glasgow, Epsom, or Silchester.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading safety assurance throughout the lifecycle of nuclear facilities (design, construction, operation, decommissioning).
  2. Supporting compliance with Site Licence Conditions.
  3. Developing and leading safety case documentation (e.g., SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS).
  4. Supporting or leading submissions for design changes and modifications (LC/AC 22).
  5. Engaging with stakeholders, clients, and regulators on technical safety issues.
  6. Conducting and overseeing assessments such as ALARP, ARM, Functional Safety, Deterministic and Probabilistic Safety, System Safety, and Risk Assessments, including Criticality, Fire, HAZOP, and HAZAN.

Requirements for success:

  • Proven experience in nuclear safety case development and assurance.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture and leadership principles.
  • Ability to lead high-performing teams, supervise, and train others.
  • DV clearance.
