Job description

Our team has an established track record of successfully delivering major multidisciplinary rail projects from our regional offices in London and Croydon, interfacing with other regional teams and Global design centres.

Position Overview

We are seeking to expand our team with a Principal Electrical Design Engineer who shares our enthusiasm and determination to support our growing workload.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Proven experience in LV and HV substation design, with successful delivery of rail projects meeting client standards, ensuring accuracy, economic, constructability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  2. Strong business development and client relationship skills, with the ability to develop and manage team members' work.
  3. Provide design, assessment, inspection, construction support, and management services across various rail projects, including feasibility studies, outline, and detailed designs.
  4. Technical and commercial project delivery, with a focus on developing AECOM’s rail LV and substation capabilities within the Electrification and Power team.
  5. Collaborate with project teams, develop concept and detailed designs, check drawings and documentation, and prepare technical reports.
  6. Support development of project specifications, attend site during construction, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards including CDM.
Qualifications
  • BSc, BEng, or MEng in Electrical Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards, with membership in a professional institution
  • Experience with Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Group Standards, British Standards, and Eurocodes is preferred.
