Job summary

Experis Scotland is seeking a Principal RF Engineer to own and lead RF/microwave system design within a collaborative engineering team. You will shape architectures, mentor engineers and drive technical decisions across projects from concept to deployment.

You’ll work on transceiver chains, antennas and RF front-end design, performing modelling, simulation and hands-on testing with industry tools, while collaborating with systems, electronics and software teams.

Qualifications

• Strong RF and microwave design experience across complex systems.
• Expertise in transmitter and receiver architectures.
• Knowledge of antenna design, RF propagation and front-end design.
• Experience with RF simulation & modelling tools HFSS, CST, ADS.
• Hands-on experience with RF test equipment: spectrum analysers, VNAs, signal generators.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and design reviews.
• Mentoring or leading engineers.
• Experience in EW, ECM/ECCM, Counter-UAS/Drone tech, or defense RF applications.

We are seeking a Principal RF Engineer to join a growing engineering team developing highly sophisticated RF systems and products. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in technical decision-making, mentor engineers, and contribute to cutting‑edge programmes within a collaborative and innovation‑driven environment.

The Role

As a Principal RF Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, simulation and testing of RF and microwave systems, supporting projects from concept through to deployment.

You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams while providing technical leadership across RF architectures, transmit and receive chains, antennas, and system performance optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of RF and microwave systems.
• Develop transmit and receive chain architectures.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong RF and microwave design experience across complex systems.
• Expertise in transmitter and receiver architectures.
• Knowledge of antenna design, RF propagation and front‑end design.
• Experience using RF simulation and modelling tools such as HFSS, CST, ADS or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with RF test equipment including:
• Spectrum analysers
• Vector Network Analysers (VNAs)
• Signal generators
• Strong understanding of RF testing, validation and troubleshooting.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and design reviews.
• Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers.
• Electronic Warfare (EW)
