Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to lead assurance activities across the IPTs in a hybrid role. You will ensure compliance with AS9100/AS9145, guide project teams, and own quality plans and RCCA processes.

The role offers a path to shape quality strategy in aerospace/defence and requires collaboration across functions. You will mentor junior team members, drive KPIs, and contribute to bids and proposals while maintaining strong supplier and customer

Qualifications

• Experience with aerospace/defence quality standards (AS9100/AS9145).
• Proactive assurance guidance within an assurance community.
• Delivery of IPT requirements to time, cost and spec.
• Ownership of assurance matters for projects and customers.
• Leadership in risk and opportunities within IPT.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, processes, and standards.
• Lead and support IPTs and project assurance activities.
• Prepare Quality Management Plans and PAP updates; maintain alignment with project needs.
• Drive PAP activities and mitigate IPT risks and opportunities to closure.
• Define and manage internal assessments with IPT leads.
• Communicate IPT wellbeing data to support timely decisions.
• Act as Quality Manager proxy when required.
• Lead non-conformance and corrective actions with the IPT and external supply chain.
• Conduct project assessments and audits against approved plans.
• Mentor junior Assurance Team members and share expertise.
• Drive KPIs like LPS/KPI, QL4, RCCA with suppliers and customers.
• Support business planning with technical input and compliance guidance.
