Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer to lead quality assurance activities for MBDA products in service, interfacing with a wide range of MBDA functions and customer-facing teams. The role involves coordinating across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

The position requires strong knowledge of quality management systems, root-cause analysis, and experience with non-conformance processes, with UK residency and BPSS

• Review and maintain Project Quality planning documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Business Management System procedures.
• Identify and mitigate quality risks to improve customer satisfaction.
• Participate in process improvement activities.
• Interact with supply chain on non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Facilitate continuous improvement within the QA team and CSS sector.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Principal Quality Assurance Engineer, responsible for supporting activities relating to MBDA products in use with our customers. The role will require you to network with and gain visibility of a large variety of MBDA’s functions and in service support activities across different sites. Working in a customer facing environment, with a dynamic and experienced Product Support Team. Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on experience Dynamic (hybrid) working: 1 - 2 days per week on-site, due to workload classification Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team. You typically need 5 years of continuous UK residency. Not having spent five years in the UK may not automatically disqualify you, but please be aware we cannot guarantee the outcome of the security clearance process and this may impact your ability to work for MBDA; these are processed on a case by case basis.

The expected tasks will include the following:

• Manage product non-conformance and facilitate implementation of non-conformance process.
• Provide non-conformance data analysis and summary reports.
• Support design and manufacturing defect investigations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and ascertain root cause and implement corrective actions.
• Review, develop, implement and maintain Project Quality planning documentation.
• Ensure compliance to Business Management System procedures is maintained.
• Proactively identify, communicate and mitigate Quality risks and issues to reduce risk and increase customer satisfaction.
• Participate in process improvement activities.
• Interact with supply chain on non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Facilitate continuous improvement activities both in the Quality Assurance team and wider CSS sector.

What we’re looking for from you:

• Engineer with an experience or familiarity of quality management systems, techniques and processes.
• Practical knowledge of non-conformance management process and SAP business tool.
• Minimum HNC/HND level qualification with experience within Engineering or Quality Assurance is desirable.
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with customers and internal teams – an ability to influence change.
• Experience of working within a project environment and able to operate effectively as part of project team.
• Ability to identify risks and critical issues and drive forward suitable mitigation solutions with the aim of reducing rework and increasing Customer satisfaction.
• Ability to understand and respect cultural differences
• Ability to manage deadlines with an attention to detail.
