Principal Python Engineer - Remote (Northern Ireland) | £95k-£110k

Join a high-growth technology company working on large-scale, distributed systems that are reshaping their industry. As a Principal Python Engineer, you'll be the technical leader for a small, high-impact team, driving design, best practices, and long-term architectural decisions.

This is a fully remote role within Northern Ireland, giving you the flexibility of working from home while collaborating with world-class engineers across NI.

Responsibilities

• Leading the design and delivery of scalable, cloud-native systems built with Python and AWS
• Setting engineering standards and mentoring senior developers to grow technical capability
• Driving technical decisions across architecture, performance, and security
• Building APIs and services that can handle high throughput and demanding use cases
• Partnering closely with product, DevOps, and stakeholders to ensure robust delivery
• Championing best practices for testing, CI/CD, and automation

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in Python and its ecosystem, ideally within large-scale, distributed systems
• Strong experience designing and deploying solutions on AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, etc.)
• Track record of architectural leadership, scaling systems and setting engineering direction
• Background in mentoring and upskilling teams, influencing technical culture
• Solid grounding in software engineering principles: testing, performance tuning, and security
• Experience in high-growth or product-led environments a strong plus
